Revelation Chapter 20

THE FIRST RESURRECTION

Revelation 20:4: “And I” [John] “saw thrones, and they [The 144,000] “sat upon them,” [The thrones] “and judgment was given unto them:” [See Revelation 2:26-27 and Psalm 149:5-9] “and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the Beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived" [Received eternal life] "and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” See 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23 and Revelation 14:1, 4-5.

Revelation 20:5: “But the rest of the dead" [In Christ, see 1 Corinthians 15:20-22] "lived not again" [1 Corinthians 15:22: “...so in Christ shall all be made alive” (receive eternal life)] "until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.”

Message to reader: The First Resurrection

Revelation 20:4-5 explains the order of The First Resurrection (eternal life in Christ). The 144,000, are “the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb,” they will be the first, in Christ, to receive enteral life. They will reign with Christ a 1,000 years, see verse 4. After the aforementioned thousand years, the rest of the dead in Christ shall be made alive (receive enternal life), and shall reign with Christ an additional 1,000 years, see verse 6.

Revelation 20:6: “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such" [God’s children, those resurrected from the dead and received eternal life] "the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.”

SATAN CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE

Revelation 20:7: “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,” The bottomless pit, see verse 2.

Revelation 20:8: “And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.”

Revelation 20:9: “And they” [Gog and Magog] “went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city:” [Jerusalem, where the children of God are] “and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.” See Ezekiel 39:1-7.

Revelation 20:10: “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the Beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

THE FINAL JUDGMENT: THE SECOND DEATH

Revelation 20:11: “And I” [John] “saw" [A vision of] "a great white throne, and him” [God] “that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.” The first earth and the first heaven, see 2 Peter 3:10-13.

Revelation 20:12: “And I saw the dead,” [All flesh, except those that had part in the first resurrection] “small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened:” [Records kept of everyone’s works] “and another book was opened, which is the book of life:” [See Exodus 32:33] “and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”

Revelation 20:13: “And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they” [The dead] “were judged every man according to their works.” See Jeremiah 32:17, 19.

Revelation 20:14: “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” See 1 Corinthians 15:26.

Revelation 20:15: “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” See Revelation 21:8.
